A Review so far : September - November 2020
My start in St. Mary’s has been unusual and I know it is a difficult time for everyone. I would like to have met more of you and I hope to do so in the coming months as restrictions are safely lifted. We are able to celebrate Holy Mass from Friday December 4th . Please use our website to see any new information and changes. Meanwhile I thought I would write a summary of what has been happening since September.
Livestreaming of Mass is reaching more than 100 people daily and Public Masses were attracting up to 30 people twice a week. Weekend Masses will begin again in December.
Our School has a new Headteacher, Mrs. Carol Scanlon, who will begin in January. A new Deputy Head will be appointed in January. A School Finance Manager has started. Mass in School for each Class may begin shortly.
A number of People who have worked for many years have retired and there is a need to search for new people to help with particular tasks ( I.e. Book Keeping, Stewarding and developing our Website.)
A suggestion has been made that the Finance and Administration Committee and the Parish Pastoral Team be merged into one group to improve co-ordination and planning even if only on a temporary basis.
ON SUNDAY JUNE 20TH WE AIM TO HAVE A PARTY TO CELEBRATE FR. KEVIN’S 60th ANNIVERSARY OF PRIESTHOOD.
I want to invite you all to let me know your ideas and hopes for our Parish Future. I hope that by September 2021 we may well find ourselves coming together once again. Please contact me either by telephone or letter or email or “zoom” with your ideas and aspirations. Could you let me have them by the Epiphany of The Lord ( Wednesday January 6th, 2021.)
With my Prayers and Best Wishes, Fr. Dominic J. O’Hara.
First Sunday in Advent, November 29th, 2020.
