A Preperation program to help understand 'What is involved in being confirmed?'

St Mary’s runs a residential program for young people thinking of becoming a confirmed Catholic.

The Confirmation program at St Mary's aims to:

    1. Provide an opportunity for all young people in Year 10, who are baptised Catholics, to participate in the Sacrament of Confirmation.

    2. Help foster and develop the candidate’s faith and sense of ‘home’ within the Family of the Church.

    3. Encourage the candidates to examine their faith by providing them with opportunities for exploration and enquiry.

    4. Assist in every possible way (as a team of priest, parents, sponsors and leaders) the young people who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

    5. Provide a programme which will live long in their memories and help inspire the candidate to progress on their journey of faith

The program is run over three weekends spread typically from November through to April with the Confirmation Mass taking place in May or June. These weekends consist of group work, discussion, games, role play, meditation and food! In addition there are a number of meetings to help candidates get to know each other, to inform the parents about the various arrangements and finally a celebration mass the weekend after we return.

Universally year after year the candidates who have been through the program said they would recommend it to friends.

The candidates only need to make their choice after the third weekend
