    To ensure that God's Word is heard by the whole congregation.
The Readers gather together usually once a year for refresher training. This consists of reminders on practical points and how to actually get across the message of the reading. In meeting, the Readers also encourage each other in continuing their Ministry.
Readers are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of the Lectionary readings and to be able to not just read the reading, but to proclaim it as the Word of God.
